Puddingstone Creatives

At Resurrection Lutheran Church, our mission of “Many Hearts, One Lord” encompasses our commitment to bringing Christ to both those of faith and the wider Roxbury Community. As part of the thriving arts and culture movement within the Roxbury Cultural District, our congregation proudly hosts an artist-in-residence program, overseen by Verna Hampton, Executive Artistic Director of Puddingstone Creative.

Puddingstone Creatives aims to engage the community and promote economic empowerment through training and employment opportunities throughout Roxbury. Puddingstone is a grassroots, intergenerational, multicultural, and all-inclusive creative organization that focuses on fostering collaboration, development, education, performance, and exhibition across all art disciplines, including culinary arts and the vanities (hair, makeup, and costume design).

We invite you to join us for a series of faith-filled arts-focused events that celebrate the love of Christ and the rich cultural history of Roxbury as a vibrant multicultural community.

Believers

As Lutherans, we believe

"know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified."

Galatians 2:16

The Easter Lenten Season

The Lenten season commences with Ash Wednesday. It is a period of reflection, self-examination, and spiritual discipline as we prepare to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ during Holy Week and Easter. Throughout this solemn religious observance, we concentrate on self-examination, repentance, worship, prayer, and spiritual growth. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Holy Saturday, the day before Resurrection/Easter Sunday. The duration of Lent mirrors the 40 days that Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness. It serves as a time for us to ponder our faith, engage in spiritual disciplines, and ready ourselves to celebrate the central event of our faith—the resurrection of Jesus the Christ.
